SAN MATEO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
COMMUNICATIONS UNIT
On September 8, 2012, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office took delivery of a brand-new Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV). This new vehicle replaces our previous command vehicle, a retired commuter bus that was converted into a mobile dispatch center in the early 1990s. The vehicle is operated and maintained by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and the Sheriff’s Communications Unit. The vehicle serves as a field command post providing an incident command with a dispatch center, satellite & cellular-based internet, a wireless hotspot, a high-definition video platform, voice over ip (VOIP) phone lines, and office space. The vehicle is available for use by any public safety agency in the region.
